Community guidelines
studdy.live is a shared library, so the rules are the same for everyone. They exist to keep the rooms usable for quiet, focused study — especially for younger students.
The three rules behind everything below
Respectful study
studdy.live exists so students can sit quietly beside each other. Keep the room calm and keep chat on topic.
- Use the subject channels for their subjects — Polity questions belong in Polity.
- Keep messages short, constructive and relevant to studying.
- Do not spam, flood, or repeat the same message to draw attention.
- Do not post promotional links, referral codes or solicitation of any kind.
- Display names must not impersonate other students or administrators.
No harassment or abuse
Harassment is grounds for an immediate chat restriction, suspension or ban.
- No insults, slurs, threats, sexual content, or targeted attacks on any student.
- No pressure on anyone to turn on their camera or to chat.
- No doxxing: never share another person's contact details, email address or location.
- No bullying over exam scores, college choices, language or background.
No examination leaks or cheating material
studdy.live is a preparation platform, not a source of leaked paper content.
- Do not share, request or discuss leaked examination papers, answer keys or live exam content.
- Do not share paid or pirated study material, or links to it.
- Do not organise collusion, impersonation or any attempt to cheat in a real examination.
- Report leaked-material posts instead of replying to them.
Camera etiquette
Your camera is off by default and stays off until you enable it. When you do enable it, the rules below apply.
- Keep your background appropriate for a public library — no other people, no personal documents, no identifying details.
- Stay dressed and behave as you would in a public study space.
- Remember that peers can record your feed on their own device. Assume anything visible could be seen again.
- Never point your camera at another person, and never record or screenshot a peer.
- Turn your camera off when you leave your desk.
Reporting and blocking
Every surface has a way out. Use it early rather than arguing in chat.
- Block any student to stop seeing them and to stop them appearing in your room. Blocking is immediate and invisible to the blocked person.
- Report behaviour to moderators with the closest reason. Include the display name and the channel where it happened.
- Reports are reviewed by administrators. Outcomes are recorded on the account.
- False or malicious reports made to target another student are themselves a violation.
Moderator actions
Administrators can act on reports and on their own review of channels.
- Delete messages that violate these guidelines.
- Temporarily restrict a student's chat access.
- Suspend an account for a limited period.
- Ban an account permanently for serious or repeated violations.
Under-18 safety rules
studdy.live is built for students, including students under 18. These rules are not negotiable.
- There is no private direct messaging between strangers and no anonymous posting. Every message carries a public display name.
- No audio is captured anywhere in the platform — there is no microphone permission request and no voice chat.
- No uploads exist: no chat attachments, no profile pictures, no file sharing.
- Email addresses are never displayed. Only public display names are visible.
- Any adult behaviour directed at a minor — grooming, sexual content, solicitation of personal details — should be reported immediately and results in a permanent ban.
- If you are under 18, use studdy.live with the knowledge of a parent or guardian and keep your camera off unless a guardian has agreed otherwise.
How to report something right now
Use the report action next to a message or a peer in the room, or send the details through the feedback form with the display name and the channel where it happened. Reports are confidential and are reviewed by administrators only.
Violations of these guidelines can result in message deletion, a chat restriction, a suspension or a permanent ban. These guidelines form part of the terms of service.
