A study library with real companions, honest limits and zero uploads
studdy.live is a virtual library for students preparing for competitive examinations. It gives you quiet company, structure and a record of the hours you actually put in — and it asks for almost nothing in return.
No microphone, ever. No file uploads, anywhere. No profile pictures.
Peer-to-peer video companions
Study beside other students preparing for the same examination. Your camera feed travels directly between browsers — it is never relayed through, received by, or stored on a studdy.live server.
100×100 at 5 fps by default
Default quality is a tiny, low-bandwidth companion feed. It is enough to see that someone is present, reading or writing — nothing more.
300×300 high quality (optional)
Switch to a larger companion tile when your connection allows. Even high quality stays a small square, never full screen sharing.
Automatic peer rotation
Your visible companions rotate on a timer so the room never turns into a fixed social circle. Rotation can be paused or switched off in settings.
Camera off until you turn it on
No permission prompt appears when you enter a room. Video only starts after an explicit action, and it stops the moment you turn it off.
Three study modes
Pick the amount of presence you want. Every mode keeps the room, timer, tasks and chat channels available.
Video study
Tiny live P2P feeds of your companions, rotating every few minutes. Best when quiet company keeps you accountable.
Chat-only
Zero media. Subject chatrooms, the Pomodoro timer and your task list, with your camera and all peers completely dark.
Silent study
Only your timer and your current task. No video tiles, no chat pane — the most stripped-down way to sit in the library.
Pomodoro timer
Timestamp-based, not tick-based. The timer derives remaining time from stored timestamps, so a refresh, a suspended tab, a sleeping laptop or a lost connection cannot reset it.
25 / 5
25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break.
50 / 10
50 minutes of focused work followed by a 10-minute break.
90 / 15
90 minutes of focused work followed by a 15-minute break.
Custom presets
Set your own work and break lengths in study settings. Completions are counted only when a work phase actually finishes.
Task tracker
Plan the day, then spend your hours against a plan instead of a vague intention.
Titles, subjects, targets
Each task takes a title, an optional subject label and an optional target duration in minutes, so you can see the gap between plan and reality.
Priorities and per-task time
Mark tasks low, medium or high priority, set one as your current task, and see the tracked time each task accumulated today.
Text only — never files
There is no attachment field anywhere. No documents, screenshots, notes or images can be added to a task.
Streaks and achievements
Consistency signals you can trust. Streaks only advance on days with a qualifying amount of verified study time, and achievements are awarded by the server from aggregate totals.
Honest streak rules
A day counts once it crosses the platform minimum. Breaks, pauses, idle tabs and duplicate sessions never inflate a streak.
Server-awarded badges
First session, early bird, night owl, pomodoro master, consistency, and hour milestones are evaluated from verified aggregates, never from client claims.
Leaderboards
Optional, category-scoped rankings refreshed on a schedule rather than on every page view.
Daily, weekly, monthly
Rankings by examination category or overall, with your own position highlighted even when you fall outside the visible page.
Opt out at any time
Turn leaderboard participation off in your profile and your display name disappears from every board. Nothing is backfilled.
Display names only
Leaderboards show public display names and study totals. Email addresses are never displayed anywhere on the platform.
Private rooms
Invite a small circle of study partners to a shared space with a synchronized timer and shared task text.
Unpredictable invitation links
Each room gets a long random code. An optional passcode is hashed before it is stored, and the host can revoke access by closing the room.
Shared Pomodoro state
The host controls work and break lengths, the started-at timestamp and the current task text, so everyone in the room runs the same cycle.
Small by design
Private rooms cap participants at a small number so they stay a study circle rather than a broadcast.
Moderation and safety
Built for students, including students under 18, with no private direct messaging between strangers.
Blocking and reporting
Block any student to stop seeing them, and report behaviour to moderators with a reason. Blocks apply immediately and are invisible to the blocked person.
Moderated subject channels
Text channels are rate-limited, de-duplicated and subject to administrator moderation, message deletion and retention limits.
Public display names
Every participant appears under a public display name. No anonymous posting, no direct messages, no profile pictures.
Honest limitations
What studdy.live cannot do, stated plainly. None of these are hidden behind settings.
STUN only — no TURN relay
studdy.live uses public STUN servers to discover your public address. It deliberately does not activate a TURN relay, so media can fail where a symmetric or carrier-grade NAT is in the way.
Some networks block peer-to-peer
Strict corporate firewalls, certain mobile carriers and locked-down campus networks can prevent direct browser-to-browser connections. When that happens you see an explicit unavailable state, not a black tile.
Peers can record your video
A peer who can see your feed can point a camera at their screen. studdy.live has no technical way to prevent that, so keep your background appropriate.
Verification is platform-active time
Study hours measure how long the platform was active and visible — not whether you were physically studying. It is an honest signal, not a certificate.
Zero-upload policy
There is no upload control anywhere in studdy.live — no chat attachments, no profile pictures, no note files, no screenshots, no advertisement creatives hosted by the app. Every surface accepts text and icons only. Advertisements are static images served directly from the advertiser's own host; studdy.live never proxies, re-uploads or stores them.
Pick your examination and sit down
Ten examination groups, three study modes, a timer that survives refresh, and a task list that keeps you honest. Free, with no account upgrade anywhere.
